Solmar Development Corp made a splash last year with the launch of their Bristol Place development, generating excitement for the two-tower project right from the jump with the promise of delivering the tallest buildings in the City of Brampton. Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the project will see the construction of a pair of 48-storey towers, reaching heights of 144 metres, and creating a total of 1,124 new units. But while the verticality of the towers has been the focal point in discussions of the project, one of the most important qualities of the development has nothing to do with the buildings themselves, and everything to do with how the development is connected to the wider region.

Slated to rise above Main Street North, just north of the intersection of Main and Queen Streets, Bristol Place is situated in the heart of Downtown Brampton. Like all of the municipalities surrounding Toronto, Brampton has caught the development bug in recent years, and is expecting significant urbanization efforts in order to accommodate a rising population, now revitalizing its downtown core too. Beyond the delivery of new homes, however, Brampton’s downtown is also emerging as a particularly well served transit node, with consistent improvements being made on the existing public transportation infrastructure to bring more efficient connections to the surrounding region; and all of this will be playing out on Bristol Place’s doorstep.
Located just a few hundred metres south of Bristol Place, on the west side Main Street is GO Transit's Brampton station, which it shares with VIA Rail and Brampton Transit. Providing east-west service via GO Transit’s Kitchener Line, riders can get from Brampton GO to Union Station in just 40 minutes. This efficient and sustainable connection to Downtown Toronto makes Bristol Place a viable place to live for people employed in the city. Meanwhile, construction work is well underway further south to deliver a new rapid-transit service to the Western GTA, Metrolinx’s Hazel McCallion LRT Line. The project will provide 18 kilometres of north-south rail tracks that connect Brampton directly to Mississauga, all the way south to Port Credit. With the LRT terminating at Brampton Gateway in the south end of the city, a direct bus route will connect Bristol Place to the LRT station, adding another dimension to the possibilities for employment and entertainment outside of Brampton for residents of Bristol Place.
Along with the wealth of public transportation surrounding the development, Bristol Place will also be partnering with car-sharing service Kite Mobility to provide residents with access to a fleet of vehicles that can be reserved for round trips of up to 24 hours. Managed through a smartphone app, Kite allows residents to sign out vehicles at their own convenience, minimizing the need for vehicle ownership and excessive parking space, and takes the sustainable aspect a step further by offering a selection of all electric vehicles.
With a variety of eco-friendly options to connect residents to the wider GTA, Bristol Place strives to reduce the auto-dependency that is more prevalent in smaller municipalities, while still creating opportunities to enjoy the experiences offered in surrounding cities.
