Developers National Homes have just launched a new residential project that will be bringing affordable family-friendly living opportunities to the Burlington and western GTA community. The project, titled North Shore, has been designed by Kirkor Architects Planners and will consist of a pair of 8-storey mid-rise buildings with grade-level retail units, while also featuring a multi-block townhouse component, ultimately delivering a total 387 new condo units.

The last few years have been a transitional moment for the municipality, which has been enjoying a revitalization process in the downtown and surrounding communities alike. With a population of just below 200,000, Burlington has emerged as a highly sought after community for families, ranking first on Maclean’s Magazine’s ‘Best Place to Raise a Family’ list. The recent success of the community, however, has translated to higher home values, with average prices of more than $1 million making it difficult for first time buyers to enter the market.
For National Homes, North Shore is their plan to offer solutions for this problem, providing a diverse range of buyers, from downsizers to young families, with the opportunity to join an established community. Suite offerings range in sizes from single-bedroom to three bedroom with areas of nearly 1,000 ft² on the larger end, but the real draw is in the prices, with all offerings valued at accessible price points below $500,000.

“We’re thrilled to be launching North Shore in one of Burlington’s more desirable neighbourhoods,” said Jason Pantalone, President and Managing Partner with National Homes. “This area historically has been known for its picturesque homes. We have worked hard to deliver a community that allows first-time buyers to enter the market along with those who wish to downsize and remain in the same area they have lived in for many years.”
The development will occupy a spacious site on the south side of Plains Road East currently occupied by a single-storey shopping complex with extensive surface parking, bringing new life to a plot of land that has become under-utilized as the demand for housing continues to rise in the GTA. Enjoying strong connectivity to the surrounding region with Plains Road offering direct connections to the QEW, the location also benefits from close proximity to Aldershot and Burlington GO Stations, both located less than four kilometres away, offering future residents the convenience of rapid transit routes all the way to Downtown Toronto.

The surrounding area adds on to the desirable profile of the community, with over 100 parks and 60 schools available, making it a more competitive option especially for families. The area also fosters an outdoor lifestyle, with 48 kilometres of bike lanes as well as close proximity to both the Niagara Escarpment and Burlington Beach.
On the heels of its launch in late February, the project is now in the early stages of sales. Further details on the design of the townhouse components, interiors, and 5,000 ft² amenity program will continue to roll out as the project advances towards construction.
