STACK Infrastructure in partnership with First Gulf, has submitted a Site Plan Approval application to the City of Toronto, for a proposal to develop a data centre on the 19 acre site at 3650 Danforth Avenue in Scarborough, located on the northwest corner with Birchmount Road.
The site was the former home of Eli Lilly Canada headquarters, which has since moved downtown. The original Eli Lilly building is proposed to remain on the property, and would be retrofitted, to be used as an industrial building.
The new building would be a private data centre, run by STACK, and would be the company's first location outside of the United States. According to STACK's website, when running at full capacity, the building would have a total of 56 megawatts of available computing power with leads to three local substations, providing for redundancy should a power interruption occur at one of them.
Designed by WZMH Architects, the new building stands 2-storeys tall, and features exterior cladding with warm-toned wood paneling and textured grey metal panels.
The new building would offer a total of 34,587m² of indoor gross floor area, while it would be surrounded by 37,500m² grounds with landscape design by Quinn Design Associates.
