The Penthouse Collection of suites at Slate Asset Management's One Delisle has been released. The residential condominium, near Yonge and St Clair in Toronto's Deer Park area is the first project in Canada designed by Studio Gang Architects of Chicago.
The eight penthouse residences at One Delisle are set on floors 45 to 47, and each will span either one-third or one-half of the 16-sided building. The Penthouse Collection includes four types of outdoor spaces; terraces, balconies, and/or winter loggias as part of each residence–a rare amenity in high-rise condominiums. The architecture of the building will serve to provide shelter from the elements and guarantees private outdoor spaces will be able to be used during the cooler months.
Studio Gang drew inspiration for One Delisle’s terraces from a German chair, known as the Strandkorb–a hooded beach chair designed to provide comfort seating and shelter from wind, rain, sand gusts, and sunburn at beachfront resorts. Taking Toronto’s four-season weather into account, the outdoor spaces offer a similar hooded feature, which helps to protect the balconies and terraces from the elements, while still providing privacy yet offering panoramic views of the city.
Inside, the Penthouse Collection residences are home to natural stone fireplaces, and dining rooms that include glass-enclosed wine cabinets. Kitchens are the centrepieces of the open floor plans, and have natural stone countertops and backsplashes that are paired with lacquer-finished cabinetry, with a pill-shaped island designed by Studio Gang at their centre.
One Delisle's shared amenities are found a little closer to ground level and include an indoor zero-edge pool, a fitness centre and spa with a dry sauna, a Himalayan salt room, and a eucalyptus steam room that leads to private outdoor terraces, a chef’s kitchen and dining room conjoined with a wine and cocktail lounge, a children's playroom, and 24-hour concierge. There's also an amenity terrace to relax on atop the podium.
The redevelopment will also introduce approximately 12,000ft² of new multi-level retail to the corner of Yonge Street and Delisle Avenue, while expanding the adjacent Delisle Park to the immediate west of the building by approximately 50%.
