Few areas characterize Toronto's sweeping development boom quite like the Entertainment District, where dozens of new towers have been completed in recent years, with many more still that are planned or under construction. Another project is promising to enter the area skyline in the coming months, with Concord Adex's Central Condos project on Widmer Street between Adelaide and Richmond streets the latest to rise above grade.

When the project was planned by previous owner Storey Living Inc., that company demolished a block of Victorian row houses here in 2017 for their planned 41-storey tower. Following Concord Adex's purchase of the property, DIALOG designed a 46-storey tower, upon which work began in 2019 with the start of shoring. Crews from Michael Bros Excavation then created the pit, bottoming out last July.

We last checked in on the site in August, 2020, shortly after the pit had reached its final seven-level depth, and the first rebar was being laid in advance of a crane installation. Approximately nine months later, the garage levels have surfaced, and work is now moving steadily above grade. The structurally complete garage levels will eventually host 128 vehicles and 341 bicycles. Above the garage, the ground floor is now being formed, with large supporting columns and walls in place, as well as portions of the next slab and walls for the second level above.

Above the coming second floor, the development's footprint reduces for the point tower above, which will rise to a height of almost 139 metres. Once complete, the 29,492 m² Central Condos will bring another 426 condominium units to Toronto's Entertainment District.
