Since taking shape earlier this year on the northeast corner of Dupont and Dufferin in Toronto's West End, passersby have been treated to the striking—albeit temporary—architectural presence of ELAD Canada's presentation centre for Galleria On The Park. With the community's initial phases now under construction, the presentation centre will be the development's marketing nerve centre as the long-term build-out of the former Galleria Shopping Centre site unfolds.
The 6,800 square-foot sales centre designed by Daniel Johnson Architect boasts a curving exterior that includes a sweeping canopy sheltering the approach to the entrance, supported by a series of canted columns and featuring a warm wood soffit.
Reflecting the Galleria on the Park community's architectural mash-up of curvilinear and rectilinear forms, the presentation centre's curving exterior hides an interior space marked by orthogonal lines. This can be seen as a scaled-down interpretation of how the curved massing of Galleria III will create a gateway to the community, with more traditional designs found within the centre of the community. Appointed by interior designers U31, an aesthetic marked by white and black marble finishes and planters greets visitors, while bright lighting works with the large expanse of floor-to-ceiling glazing along its south side to create a bright and airy space.
Deeper into the space, visitors will find seating and lounge areas, peppered around scale models that serve as the centrepieces of the presentation centre.
One model contextualizes the initial phases Galleria 01 & 02 within the wider Galleria On The Park site, with future phases created more simply out of clear acrylic. A second standalone model, smaller in overall size but at larger scale, provides a closer look at the first phase buildings, while another standalone model representing Galleria III has just been added.
All of the presentation centre's models were created by Peter McCann Architectural Models.
A model suite representing a split two-bedroom, two-bathroom plan features interior design by DesignAgency, and will evolve with changing finishes and furniture as further buildings in the community are brought to market. The current model demonstrates two of the three colour palettes available for suites in the initial phases.
Because of COVID-19, social distancing measures are in place for in-person appointments, with virtual appointment booking also available for those who wish to remain at home.
