Approaching three years into its construction, The Rosedale on Bloor is now rising above grade at the tightly-constrained site on the south side of Bloor just west of Sherbourne in Downtown Toronto. The 55-storey, IBI Group-designed condominium and hotel tower has been active since site clearing in mid-2017 paved the way for the late 2017 start of construction, and it's been almost a full six months since we last checked in on the Gupta Group building's construction status.

At the time of our last update in March, the L-shaped site was about one year into the forming phase of the five-level underground garage, forming P2 at the time.

After the ground floor floor slab was poured in early summer, by August an interesting structural feature that addresses the site's position above Bloor-Danforth subway line tunnels became apparent: three inclined columns could be seen angling outward to the future second floor, ready to transfer the loads above down to foundations which are set south of the curving tunnel walls. The tops of the three columns can be made out in the image below, but can be seen more clearly in a post in the project thread in our Forum.

More recent forming has now obscured the columns, seen below in a view from mid-September. Of the three supports, one is set to run through the residential lobby, another will pass through a retail space, while the central support in the trio will be largely hidden from view, built within an egress corridor.

At the south end of the site facing Selby Street, forming is now up to the fourth floor of the podium, the L-shaped footprint now clearly seen. Once clear of its podium, the tower's smaller floor-plates will allow the building to rise more quickly. Tower is heading towards an eventual height of 185.86 metres to the top of the mechanical penthouse.

Upon completion, the project will bring 508 condominium units to the meeting point between the Rosedale, Bloor-Yorkville, and St James Town neighbourhoods. A 188-suite Canopy by Hilton hotel will be found within the podium levels.
