The early stages of construction work are moving along for a new mid-rise residential community just steps from Humbertown Plaza near Royal York and Dundas in the Toronto borough of Etobicoke. The Benvenuto Group's 293 The Kingsway is replacing a recently-cleared group of mid-20th century mid-rise apartment buildings with a mix of new mid-rise condominium and rental buildings, wrapping around the cul-de-sac of St Stevens Court.

We last checked in on the site just over one month ago, when the Quadrangle-designed development was progressing through its excavation stage. Work has progressed further along in the weeks since, with the completion of excavation, shoring, and tieback installation for the two rental buildings along the northern edge of the U-shaped site. They are indicated as buildings A & B on the site plan below.

Among these two rental buildings, building B recently marked a construction milestone with the raising of the site's first tower crane.

Meanwhile, to the southeast, the condo building marked as building D on the site plan has also made noticeable progress in the past month. Vertical shoring is complete, tieback installation has started, and bulk excavation of the site continues.

The site will eventually be excavated down three levels, freeing up space to form an underground garage with space for 554 vehicles— 449 for residents and 105 for visitors.

The initial condominium building at 293 The Kingsway will offer residents a collection of amenity spaces appointed by Patton Design Studio, set to include a 3,420 ft² fitness studio, a games room, a pet spa, a dining room and party room. Up on the seventh floor, an outdoor rooftop terrace overlooking the surrounding community is planned to feature landscaping by Terraplan/Studio TLA.
