A spine of residential density is coalescing along Hurontario Street in Mississauga in advance of the Hurontario LRT, now under construction. Mississauga Square, the latest addition to the stretch by developer Plaza, is now approaching its final height at Nahani Way north of Eglinton Avenue. Under construction for just over two years now, the Turner Fleischer Architects-designed development will be a 33-storey tower rising from a podium of two-storey townhomes.
We last checked in on construction in April, when the tower stood 23 storeys above Hurontario, and cladding installation had progressed as high as the 13th floor. A few months later, the final ten residential floors and a mechanical penthouse above have been formed as crews now continue work on the roof parapet, bringing the tower to its final height.
On the left side of the drone-captured photo below, a section of the roof slab is still being formed. At the centre of the image, formwork is in place for the roof parapet, standing next to already-poured sections to the right.
Cladding installation has been progressing since February when the first panels of brick cladding were applied to the podium's two-storey townhome elevations. Townhome cladding is now largely complete, while the tower above is being gradually enclosed. A mix of window wall and precast finishes are now in place as high as the 21st floor.
Once complete, the 313,496 ft² development will introduce 404 new condo and townhome units to the north end of Mississauga's core.
