Following minor design tweaks introduced last month for The Benvenuto Group’s Monza Condos, a new rendering and a promise of upcoming construction are the latest updates for the new mid-rise condo coming to Toronto's St Clair Avenue West, near Oakwood. With the design of the nine-storey development by StudioAC and +VG Architects • The Ventin Group now closer to its final form, the latest rendering shared on the project's official website highlights recent changes introduced following feedback from City staff.

Last month's Site Plan Approval (SPA) application for Monza incorporated the suggestion of animating a previously-planned blank west wall with a series of alternating bands of white and charcoal aluminum panels, extending the pattern created by the rows of balconies lining the other elevations. Facing southeast, the new rendering shows how the finishes will now tie the whole design together.

A statement released by Mitchell Abrahams, President of the Benvenuto Group, details how the company has responded to the challenges of COVID-19 through a combination of safe social distancing, virtual meetings, and video walk-throughs of the project's presentation centre to keep sales moving during unprecedented times. Purchasers will also be happy to see that the company intends to break ground on Monza later this year.

In advance of the upcoming ground breaking, much of the site was cleared last year, removing a single-storey retail plaza from the interior of the site. The presentation centre still remains on site, occupying a repurposed auto service centre. The pending conclusion of sales of Monza's 76 condominium units will be followed by the clearance of the remainder of the site, setting the stage for shoring and excavation activities.
