While most of us are now working from home, construction crews continue to work onsite—with new protocols in place—but there is one crew working at "home" at Parliament and Adelaide in Downtown Toronto. Now rising on the intersection's northeast corner, Great Gulf and Hullmark's "home: Power and Adelaide" development is bringing a 21-storey Core Architects-designed tower to the west edge of the Corktown neighbourhood, a mixed-use building with condos atop a retail base.
We last checked in on construction in September, 2019 when the site's 3.5-level underground garage was taking shape. The first work on the ground floor was recorded in December, and four months later, work on the building's five-storey podium is in full swing. The latest views of the site show that structural work is now unfolding on the mezzanine and second floor.
Forming has progressed the furthest at the north end of the site, where the first areas of the second floor (above a mezzanine level) are now taking shape above Richmond Street East. This includes a 133 m²/1,427 ft² ground-floor retail space directly fronting the corner of Richmond and Power streets.
The complex will eventually top out 78 metres high, bringing 507 condominium units to the neighbourhood. A combined 60,000 ft² of retail space housed within the podium levels, as well as improvements to the local public realm designed by landscape architects Ferris + Associates will work together to create an improved pedestrian relationship with the site.
