A late 2019 proposal for a 47-storey condominium tower at the corner of Blue Jays Way and Mercer in Toronto’s Entertainment District is now gearing up for sales. The project from CentreCourt dubbed 55 Mercer will bring 543 condominium units to the area, priced starting from the mid $500,000s, and put its residents in close proximity to many of the City’s most visited destinations.
So far, only one high-quality rendering of the IBI Group-designed building has been released since the initial imagery included with the planning application. A contextual aerial view that draws attention to the building’s location through its glow, additional images are expected to be released in the coming days. The first marketing rendering ties in with the developer’s approach of driving home the building’s location amid the hustle and bustle of the Entertainment District, and easy access to the Financial District and over 50 office towers via the PATH pedestrian network entrance 150 metres away.
Initial details are also emerging about the building's amenity programming, which includes several spaces appointed by figure3 Interior Design spanning three levels. Among them are an indoor and outdoor gym (featuring Peloton bikes), a basketball court, a co-working space, a dining room, a boardroom, and an outdoor terrace with grills and fire pits. While no images of these spaces have been released yet, renderings of the amenities are expected to be released as marketing progresses.
The project site is where Wayne Gretzky's restaurant and The Second City are currently located. The improv comedy hotspot that has served as a cultivation space for the Canadian comedy scene will be moving to a new location in the South Core area, while the new condominium tower that will rise in its place is set to meet the intersection with 517 m² of ground-floor retail space.
