A month after Reserve Properties and Westdale Properties announced their “Untitled Toronto” project planned for Broadway Avenue in the Yonge-Eglinton area, new details have been released about the two-tower complex that will feature design work from international Grammy award-winning artist Pharrell Williams, working alongside architects IBI Group and interior designers U31. Building on the initial worm's-eye rendering revealed last month, the latest set of images provides a detailed look at the development, inside and out.

The new 'hero' rendering of the complex (above) shows how Pharrell's hit Gust of Wind has been abstracted into sawtooth-edged balconies, following the wave pattern of the track's audio. This design draws inspiration from lead architect Mansoor Kazerouni's cultural background, referencing the concept of a jugalbandi, a style of duet performance in Indian classical music. Jugalbandi—which translates to "entwined twins"—informed Kazerouni's methods of combining the building's massing and design details with the audio waveform concept.

“We arrived at the concept fairly early in the process and worked with Pharrell to select a song that really meant something to him and could help bring this idea to life, reads a statement from Kazerouni. "There is a sophisticated, elemental feel to the building, which is why Gust of Wind works so well. Once we had the song, there was a lot of testing and iterating to find the right notes that would produce the most fluidity. What’s cool is as you go around the building, no two faces are the same. They all represent different moments from Gust of Wind.” At the base of the tower, a natural stone-clad podium would follow the same design cues as the tower above. The podium is set to feature a court\yard with a Japanese maple tree growing from a slate, rock water feature.

The latest set of renderings also includes a first look at the U31-appointed amenity spaces that will be available to residents. 32,000 ft² of amenity spaces from U31’s Kelly Cray include a mix of spaces on the building’s ground floor as well as the upper levels, including a co-working garden lounge, screening room, active fitness centre, kids club, a rec room, social lounge and private dining with a sake tasting area. We'll return for a closer look at these spaces in the near future.

The development offers 751 condominium suites ranging from studios to three bedrooms. To its west, an adjacent 413-unit purpose-built rental building will provide 200 affordable housing units, 165 mid-range units, and 49 market units, helping to maintain a healthy, vibrant mix of housing in Midtown Toronto.
