As demolition clears away sections of Toronto's Galleria Mall to make way for ELAD Canada's new Galleria on the Park community, the mall’s prominent signage pylon has been transformed into an illuminated public art installation by artist Thrush Holmes.

On display for the next few years as the property is redeveloped, the glowing installation at Dufferin and Dupont on the northeast corner of the 22-acre property, includes the salvaged brick signage pylon, vibrant neon that declares "Love me Till I’m Me Again" in reference to the redevelopment, the illuminated heart, and more.

“This art piece is an homage to the Dupont West neighbourhood. I’ve passed by this Galleria pylon countless times, so having the opportunity to contribute to my community’s transformation through art is truly special. From the start, it’s been a very collaborative process with ELAD Canada to bring this creative vision to life,” stated Holmes.

During the day, brightly coloured splashes of paint highlight the pylon.

Commissioned by ELAD Canada, developer of the Galleria on the Park community, the artwork's unveiling coincides with the wrap up of sales for sold-out first phase Galleria 01, and the introduction of the 24-storey second phase, Galleria 02. Like the first phase, Galleria 02 will feature a design by Core Architects, and interiors by U31.

"We’re thrilled to debut this public art as we announce Galleria 02. This dual announcement marks significant steps towards creating a vibrant, thriving community. The response from the market and our local community to the first phase of our Galleria on the Park master-planned community has been tremendous. On the other hand, this new art piece is a great fit for the neighbourhood, celebrating the site’s transformation and symbolizing Dupont West’s exciting future,” reads a statement issued by Rafael Lazer, CEO at ELAD Canada.
