Another building is rising in Tridel and Hines’ Bayside community on Toronto Harbour, this one hotly anticipated for its striking 14-storey design by Danish architects 3XN working with local firm Kirkor. Known as Aquabella, the building has been under construction since May 2018, and has progressed a fair bit in the close to a year and a half since shovels went into the ground.

Two months after work began, the first tower crane was installed. Six months after the site began construction, bulk excavation wrapped up, and by last November, a second crane was installed to begin forming of the site's four-level underground garage. Close to one year has passed since this milestone, and the building has since risen above grade.

Aerial views of the site show that the L-shaped building is now having its second and third levels formed. With the entire building now above grade, the first hints of the project's unique massing are now evident along its south side ground floor which fronts the Water's Edge Promenade. The staggered south wall hints at the stepped rooflines that will define the complex's two tower volumes.

The project will eventually rise 51 metres above the waterfront, bringing 173 new homes to the area upon completion. The building will be followed by another 3XN-designed building to the immediate east, where the early stages of site preparation are progressing for the upcoming Aqualuna at Bayside.
