Just east of the classic mid-century motels of Kingston and Brimley roads in the Toronto borough of Scarborough, a new mid-rise project from Skale Developments is replacing a full block at 2815 Kingston Road where an auto service centre and fast food restaurant once stood. Known as The Bluffs, the 9-storey project designed by RAW has been under construction for almost a year following the start of shoring in July 2018.

Since the site's excavated pit bottomed out at a depth of three storeys, a crane was installed and forming of the site's three-level underground garage has been ongoing ever since. After several months of below-grade forming, the project recently reached a milestone with the first at-grade forming for the building's ground floor, with work currently furthest along at the east end of the building.

A view from the south end of the site looking north towards Kingston Road shows formwork for one of the ground floor's walls being hoisted into place via the tower crane.

Forming lags a bit behind at the west end of the site, where underground levels are still taking shape. This section of the site's footprint marks the former location of the auto service centre, where contaminated soil was remediated before excavation began. This task allowed for the east end of the garage to progress much faster.

The final elements of the P1 and P2 levels continue to take shape at the west end, including the final section of parking ramp that will empty out onto the east-west laneway at the rear of the building.

Skale estimates that forming of the structure will be completed by January 2020, with completion of the building envelope expected for May 2020. Full completion of the building is projected for September 2020. Upon completion, the building will bring 182 new homes to the neighbourhood.
