Since topping out late in 2018, exterior finish installation has been progressing for Tridel's Form Condos, a 14-storey architectsAlliance-designed condominium development on McCaul Street in Downtown Toronto. In the two months since our last update, cladding has gradually enclosed much of the building, offering a better preview of how everything will look once construction is complete.

Form is being clad in a complex window wall cladding system consisting of clear glazing, metallic spandrel and mullions, and projecting vertical fins, accented by alternating sections of vertical white precast piers. The cladding now encloses the structure as high as the tenth floor, while the white precast piers are in place up to the top. At the current rate, the building should be fully enclosed within the next few weeks.

Work on interior finishing for suites and common areas is now underway on levels that have already been enclosed, with the fit-out expected to take 7 months. Interior finishing will be followed by streetscaping before work begins to wrap up and occupancies begin for the building’s 190 condominium units.

The project is has already taken its first steps towards carbon efficiency during the construction stage, using a new type of concrete developed by Halifax-based CarbonCure Technologies. This technology helps to lower a building's carbon footprint by trapping CO² inside the concrete and chemically converting it into a mineral where it stays trapped. Approximately 3,000 cubic metres of this concrete was used to construct the building.
