A year and a half since demolition cleared the Midtown Toronto Yonge Street site of J. Davis House from Mattamy Homes and Biddington Group, the 9-storey, Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed condominium development is beginning to resemble its marketing renderings. We last checked in on the project back in February, when forming was closing in on completion, and it's been a busy four months of work since.

Since topping out at 9 storeys earlier this year at Yonge and Belsize, the next big milestone came in April, when the first panels of cladding were spotted along the ground floor. The precast panels at grade—emulating limestone finishes—have since been joined by a mix of finishes above.

The building is now being finished in a mix of brick-patterned precast concrete piers and a main building envelope of window wall with a mix of clear glazing, black mullions, and opaque white spandrel panels. The brick precast piers now stretch as high as the sixth floor, while the window wall system has been installed up to the third floor. Cladding installation will progress over the next several months, allowing interior finishing to advance as more levels are enclosed.

Once construction wraps up, the building will bring 191 new homes to the area, while introducing a full block of retail that will help to reanimate the stretch of Yonge between Belsize Drive and Millwood Road, just north of Davisville subway station.
