Featuring a major art gallery, a hotel, and a theatre, the concentration of cultural amenities makes Arthaus Residences at Arts Court unique among Canadian condominium projects. Under construction in Downtown Ottawa, DevMcGill's 23-storey building—which will also contribute retail and public space at ground level—is now beginning to make an impact on the streetscape as the project rises above grade a couple blocks east of the Rideau Canal.
The City of Ottawa has shared new photos show construction reaching above the hoarding that surrounds the site at the intersection of Waller Street and Daly Avenue. Located at the edge of the popular Byward Market neighbourhood, Arthaus is adding new vitality to a growing mixed-use community. Providing an expanded home for the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, the project also includes a 1,600 ft² black box theatre for the University of Ottawa.
In addition, the luxury Le Germain Hotel will occupy the lower levels, while the upper nine floors will house the project's 88 residential suites, ranging in size from 450 ft² to 1,800 ft². A private amenity space for residents will be located on the 15th floor, featuring an entrainment centre with equipped with a fireplace, TV lounge seating, catering kitchen and formal dining room.
The 15th floor's amenities will also include fitness centre with cardio, yoga, and weight training areas, while the building will be topped by a luxurious private rooftop terrace overlooking the surrounding cityscape.
Designed by Régis Côté et Associés, Barry Padolsky Associates Inc. Architects, and KPMB Architects, the project will feature interiors by Toronto-based U31. With construction now above grade, we can expect steady progress on the site now that the labour-intensive work on the below grade levels is complete. Meanwhile, the project's custom-built sales centre is now open at 264 Rideau Street.
