Developer ELAD Canada continues to build out Toronto's dense Emerald City community at Don Mills and Sheppard, with a full new block of developments under construction on a site bounded by George Henry Boulevard, Forest Manor Road, Helen Lu Road, and Don Mills Road. This second block of development will add a considerable amount of density to the development's three existing WZMH Architects-designed condo towers and adjacent townhome blocks.
Since our previous update on the community from several weeks ago, the 13-storey Colours of Emerald City—situated at the west end of the site fronting Don Mills—has risen above grade, with concrete forming now in progress on the first and second podium levels.
Also designed by WZMH, the Colours of Emerald City is the first new phase to rise above grade on this block of the nascent community. Other buildings under construction on this block include second phase 24-storey Fifth on the Park at the southeast side of the block hugging the curve of Helen Lu Road. Meanwhile, an as-of-yet unnamed third phase is eventually set to rise to 33 storeys on the northeast corner of the site at Forest Manor Road and George Henry Blvd.
The images above and below show views of the site captured from the south on Helen Lu Road, highlighting the complete below-grade structure, the ground floor, and the in-progress second level of The Colours of Emerald City. The image above also shows the site of the 33-storey future phase, visible at the lower right.
The entire site was excavated in one go, and upward construction of the shared parking structure for the remaining buildings will also be conducted simultaneously. The second phase, Fifth on the Park, entered into sales last year, while the third phase tower is expected to begin marketing this summer.
