The parking lot and empty storefronts that stand out against the otherwise lively stretch of Davisville at Yonge south of Belsize are finally set to make way for new development, as Mattamy Homes and Biddington Homes recently confirmed plans for a 9-storey condominium on the site. Called J. Davis House, the project will bring 191 suites to the area, bringing new density to this highly desirable part of Midtown Toronto.

Though still in its early stages, we know that the development—located at 1955 Yonge Street—will feature a design by Graziani + Corazza Architects, with 1 and 2 bedroom suites ranging from 295 to 1,650 square feet. In addition, the project's grounds are set to be appointed by Terraplan Landscape Architects, while some of the building's amenities have also been announced, including a 24-hour concierge, guest suite, gym, and sauna.

Named for one of the Davisville community's founding residents, J. Davis House will—according to the project's website—also feature "room-sized terraces," meaning we can expect an emphasis on outdoor space. Meanwhile, the current historic property at Yonge and Millwood has been outfitted with a banner for the project (above), with further signs of activity (including a sales centre) expected over the coming months.

With the project still in its early stages, however, no finalized renderings have been released as of yet, leaving us with the artist's sketch that So far, we know that the building's ground level is likely to include retail space, filling a gap in the area's otherwise vibrant streetscape (above, left).

We will keep you updated on the development as new details continue to emerge, with the first official renderings expected soon.
