The Greater Toronto Area is experiencing a housing book across the region, with new development not just intensifying central areas, but also reinvigorating suburban areas too. Oakville in particular has seen strong growth in its housing market as of late, including a very strong 2014 when residential sales rose a full %12 over the previous year. Evidence of the growth here can be found just to the west of Oakville GO Station at the intersection of Speers Road and Kerr Street where Empire Communities is well into the construction of the first phase of Rain Condos, and is now getting going on a second phase dubbed Senses Condominiums.

Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the 19-storey Senses will rise beside the 21-storey Rain, both rising over a shared podium as well as sharing the same design language.

In image above from the north side of the development, two heritage houses have been located at the entrance to the site off of Shepherd Road. Initial plans had these houses being incorporated into a tightly-packed forecourt on Kerr Street on the west side of the site, but the houses—to be restored and opened as retail or restaurant uses—now sit in a location where there is more room for them to breathe and be enjoyed by the community. The new rendering below shows shops facing Kerr Street on the ground floor of the development's podium.

Rain offers 288 suites, ranging in size from 346 square feet to 1,417 square feet. Next door, the 245 suites at Senses range in size from 346 square feet up to 1,030 square feet, with prices starting from $219,990. Senses' residents will have access to recreational spaces that include an indoor pool, gym, and an outdoor terrace appointed by interior designers Bryon Patton and Associates. Residents will also enjoy an entertainment room equipped with cards table, flat screen TV, lounge seating and wet bar.

For those looking to get out and enjoy the fresh air, the surrounding community offers more than 200 parks with 1,420 hectares of parkland, and over 300 kilometres of trails. Oakville's Kerr Street shopping district is just steps away to the south, while the town's renowned downtown shops and restaurants are a short drive away.

Additional information and renderings for Senses Condominiums can be found in the project's dataBase file, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion? Check out the associated Forum threads, or leave a comment in the space provided at the bottom of this page.
