All of the recent high-rise growth in downtown Toronto has drastically altered many familiar views, and each week we compare some of these changes in our Throwback Thursday feature. This week, we take a look at Queen Street, just east of Spadina Avenue. Back on March 11th, 2007, the condo boom had yet to transform the Entertainment District to the south of Queen Street, and sightlines towards the Financial District were unobstructed.
We turn to a slightly wider view for our 2014 shot, to help highlight some of the growth reshaping the landscape south of Queen Street. While Queen itself remains more or less unchanged, several new additions to the skyline are visible, including QRC West on the far right, and Picasso in the centre. Hiding behind Picasso, you can see even more new high-rise developments, including a sliver of Studio and the completed Shangri-La and Bay Adelaide Centre.
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
