The luxury condominiums being built across the city today can all trace their lineage to some of the ambitious early 20th century apartment buildings that redefined high-density living in Toronto with impressive architecture. Some of the best examples of residential Art Deco architecture in Toronto can be found on Avenue Road, just south of St. Clair, like the Mayfair Mansions, three depression-era apartment buildings built in the Art Deco style between 1931 and 1937 by architect H. C. Roberts. In today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Vik Pahwa, we can see the three apartment buildings as they appear today.
