The Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood continues to see dramatic growth in the form of new high-rise residential towers. Back on April 13, 2003, the northeast corner of Charles and St. Thomas Streets was occupied by a mid-sized surface parking lot. In the image below, the hoist of the then-under-construction 10 Belair can be seen in the background.
Fast forward to August 21, 2014, and the surface parking lot has been replaced by One St. Thomas, a 29-storey, 70-unit luxury condominium tower by Lee Development Group. The tower makes the same view rather difficult to reproduce, so we shifted to the Charles / St. Thomas intersection a few dozen meters to the west. On the west side of the intersection, we can see the sales centre for a future condominium development, while a sliver of the new Four Seasons Hotel and Residence can be seen in background.
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
