Few areas of the city have seen the level of growth as the new Southcore district. Just a handful of years back, Southcore wasn't a district at all, but more like a conglomeration of surface parking lots south of the downtown core. On October 16, 2006, the skyline of the Financial District looms in the distance, with ample flat land between it and the Gardiner Expressway.
Fast forward to December of 2013, and a very similar vantage point from above the Harbourfront parking garage has been completely transformed. The skyline of the Financial District is only slightly visible as a newly built phalanx of glass and steel towers fills the former void of parking lots.
We will return next Thursday for another look at the changing face of Toronto!
