With a massive transit upgrade slowly drilling its way towards the Yonge and Eglinton area, as well as over a dozen residential projects in the works, there is no question that the neighbourhood is undergoing a monumental transformation. Of the many condominiums currently in development within a few blocks of this mid-city hub, the furthest along is undoubtedly The Berwick, a 17-storey tower and townhome complex by Andrin Homes and The Brown Group of Companies.
Last month we gave you a sneak peek of the building’s future interiors, designed by Bryon Patton. Since our last construction update in May, the Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed building has risen to a height of four storeys, with work on the 5th floor underway on the tower’s east side.
With regular tower floors now climbing and terraced setbacks on the way, The Berwick now stands taller than the Canada Square parking lot, our preferred vantage point for snapping photos of the project.
As the building's is changing this vantage point for us, it now allows us the ability to look in on the tower’s interiors from eye level.
This vantage point also gives us a great view of the northern portion of the site, which will contain many of the project’s townhouse units, marketed as CityTowns. Though work on the northern portion was delayed earlier on in the process due to groundwater issues, concrete forms are now peeking above ground level next to the clearly visible parking ramp.
The CityTowns don’t just occupy the northern portion, instead making use of the entire building’s Duplex Avenue frontage. In the photo below, we can see the project’s setback above the third floor where the townhouses fuse with the tower.
We look forward to the tower’s sculpted terrace setbacks emerging, just a few floors, and a month or so away now. In the meantime, please visit the our dataBase page for the project, linked below, for additional information, including building facts, renderings and floorplans.
