One of an abundance of projects designed by architectsAlliance, the Ice Condos at York Centre are a welcome addition to this burgeoning new district. The favoured firm of developers such as Lanterra and Cresford, architectsAlliance has consistently produced projects that are above and beyond those produced by other native firms. On this point there has been much debate on the Forum, a debate between those who believe that neo-modernism reestablishes a clarity and rationale lost with the turn toward post-modernism with those who find the movement unimaginative and repetitive. There has, however, been a truce of sorts between the two camps over this development. The promise of a break from the conventional with the street level design of the project and the investment in higher quality cladding has generated a lot of excitement on the Forum. With another two years remaining until completion, we look forward to watching Ice continue to take shape.

Developed by a collaboration between Cadillac Fairview and Lanterra, the 67- and 57-storey residential development is expected to be joined by a 31-storey office tower in the years to come.
