We hope you’ve been enjoying our featured projects of the day as much as we have so far. Being able to make connections between projects that might not otherwise be made — such as our recent feature on Karma Condos and it’s similarity to Murano Condos — is an important aspect in critically examining our urban fabric. If you have any comments, or would like to join in the conversation regarding the new DataBase project of the day feature, leave a comment below!

Today we are re-visiting Rise Condos, the new project by Reserve Properties located at St. Clair and Bathurst. We first brought Rise to your attention on October 19th — not even a month has passed, and the project is stirring up plenty of interest. Designed by Graziani and Corazza Architects, with interior design team II by IV Associates, Rise Condos signals the development of St. Clair Avenue West that we have been waiting for, following the hotly debated St. Clair streetcar right-of-way construction.

Rise, by Reserve Properties

Coming in at 25 storeys, Rise will contain 324 units, and is catering to the young, midtown professional who is looking to move closer to downtown without giving up the amenities that midtown Toronto has to offer. Surrounded by smal-scale retail stretching west along St. Clair, Rise will offer panoramic views of the surrounding Forest Hill neighbourhood, as well as the Annex to the south, and past that, the downtown Toronto skyline.

Rise, by Reserve Properties. Rooftop Ammenities and City View

Perched atop the escarpment, Rise offers similar views to those we’ve seen from the Imperial Plaza project east on St. Clair. The benefits of developing atop the escarpment are finally being realized; most of the land located at the bottom is protected residential, ensuring lasting views of Toronto’s downtown core.

Rise, by Reserve Properties. Street Level Detail

Last month we brought to your attention the City of Toronto’s Avenue and Mid-Rise Study while discussing the development of 875 Eglinton West; the study also focused on St. Clair West, west of Bathurst Street, as being a vibrant and important mixed used neighbourhood. The area is targeted for growth, development and invigoration, with a focus on maintaining the overall neighbourhood appeal while updating infrastructure and pedestrian-level aesthetics (trees, benches, sidewalks). While unmentioned by the developers thus far, Rise will most definitely be contributing to the redevelopment, and we can expect the corner of St. Clair and Bathurst to undergo a drastic facelift over the next five years.

If you’d like to join the discussion, or have any comments about the development and the city of Toronto’s Avenue Study in relation to Rise leave us a comment below, or check out the project’s Forum page. More information on the project can be found on the DataBase listing below.
