Last week UrbanToronto looked at the new Steeles West Station plan for the Spadina Subway extension now under construction in the city's northwest. This week it's time for a look at another of the stations; York University Station, engineered by Arup Canada and designed by London UK-based Foster + Partners. Pritzker-award-winning Foster is responsible for the London Underground's renowned Canary Wharf station, and for the U of T's Dan Pharmacy Building, amongst an extensive list of notable buildings worldwide.
The station will be located at the east end of York University's central common.

The station's artwork is Piston Effect by Jason Bruges. Movement in the station will trigger change in the Liquid Crystal Display screens, which can modulate from black through gray tones to white.
The extension to the Spadina subway line is set to open in late 2015. For much more information on York University station, visit the TTC's web page for the project here. What do you think of the design? Can this station open soon enough, or do you think this line is a mistake?
