Canadian artist Shayne Dark's Double Vision has arrived to add more dash to Toronto's tall, dark and handsome X The Condominium. The Great Gulf-built property now features Dark's 25 kinked red spires reaching skyward at the corner of Charles and Jarvis streets, standing out against the rigorous geometry of the architects Alliance-designed black tower behind.
The colour combination reminds one of the monumental Alexander Calder piece Flamingostanding outside Mies van der Rohe's Federal Plaza building in Chicago's Loop:
Meanwhile out back of X, it has its putting green now too. This building is all about contrasting colour with black.
