Over the last week and a bit the commute down the Yonge line from Finch has taken a lot longer than usual. The trains seem to run ok until Lawrence, but after which they run slow and stop in the middle of the tunnel frequently for no apparent reason. The new average time to get from Lawrence to Eglinton is now about 7-10 minutes vs the usual 2 minutes. Also, it takes forever to get to Davisville. The train then speeds up to normal once it reaches the tunnel at St. Clair. A usual 25 minute trip from Finch to Bloor now takes easily 35-40 minutes.
Questions:
a)Anyone know if there is any track work going on between Lawrence and Eglinton southbound? I know they're doing the nightly tunnel work but why the slowdowns during the day
b)What's going on at Davisville, is looks like they're renovating the southbound plaform forcing the trains to use a different track.
c)Is this the new normal for the foreseeable future, or just a summer construction?
I wish the TTC would put something up on their website to say what the heck is going on and when will normal service and travel times return to Yonge! The commutes to work are becoming frustrating, and it's the summer period when less people are travelling to work due to vacations.
