Wong Dai Sin Temple (2s, Shim and Sutcliffe) COMPLETE

Well, I am a fan of the cantilever, just not necessarily for the sake of a parking lot (true that it enabled the project, but there is something very overkill about that).

I want to like it because it's sophisticated and creative, but I'm not a fan. For one, I don't find the application of Corten steel attractive. It's too harsh for a temple exterior. I wonder if they even took corrosion runoff into consideration--the concrete below the building might end up orange-brown from corrosion runoff. The cantilevered part draws your eyes to the parking underneath, which is the most banal part of the development. There isn't much detail to the facade beyond the geometric windows.
