Apparently we can’t call them Brownies any longer.

Girl Guides of Canada to rename Brownies branch after reports the name caused ‘personal harm’ to racialized girls

Girl Guides says the renaming is part of the organization’s goal to create a more inclusive space for all girls and young women to feel “welcomed in Guiding.”

I went to Beavers. I don’t think anyone‘s complained about the name being misconstrued.

Mind you the Golliwog I had as a young lad in England would probably put today’s parent in front of the HRC.

But I recall HBC did rename their history magazine 'The Beaver' because of 'complications' with online searches, so there's that.

I suspect a lot of toys, dolls, cartoons from 'back in the day' would give give current generations apoplexy.

It doesn't help that everything is pathological, the human psyche should not be defined so carefully too much is ephemeral - emotions,memories,moods better to take on Doris Day's Que Serra Serra outlook "whatever will be will be". It's a nice song - teach it to kids! Let the day pass, the night is for sleeping and dreaming. I learned that the hard way!
