What's up with John Barber?

Does anybody know why Globe and Mail columnist John Barber hasn't written a column since May? I can't find any info on the G&M website.

He's moved over to the Focus section, I think. He was replaced by Marcus Gee. Barber was well overdue for retirement, but Marcus Gee is an absolutely baffling choice. It shows they really don't understand most of their readership.

He's not writing the City Hall column any more - he's writing for the Arts section and had this piece last weekend in the Focus section.

That's too bad. Barber had a special insight into the workings on city hall (and other municipal bodies) that I found quite refreshing. Even though he was conservative in his outlook, he always relished in highlighting the idiots who worked there, regardless of ideology.

Gee's writing on the other hand seems to be just tired right wing rhetoric. Barber will be sadly missed from the city beat.
