Increasing access to alcohol without providing proper harm reduction resources to go with it is not a good idea. Alcohol is a highly toxic, highly addictive, and highly destructive drug. You can't on one hand push down the price of booze whilst trying to tax out of existence tobacco, for example.
Both my parents died from addiction in their 60s, one to alcohol, the other to tobacco. But they voluntarily chose and commenced their poison and their ultimate demise, and it shouldn’t impact others' choices. I do not need harm reduction, I responsibly enjoy my alcohol and smoke the very infrequent cigar. I'm no fatalist, but none of us get out of this alive, so enjoy yourself. The only harm reduction I care about is whatever is needed so you won't harm me or others, such as jailing drunk drivers and drug dealers, but if you feel compelled to harm yourself without directly impacting others, that's on you.

So, to bring up back on topic (sorry for the tangent folks) LCBO, skip the publication and put the money towards lower prices.

I agree, but providing people with information about what they're embarking on has immense value. You can't blame people entirely if the truth of the matter is purposely obfuscated.
People should be informed, at point of purchase, about the dangers of alcohol. This isn't done.
"Drink Responsibly" literally means fu**al.

I'm not sure the two are at all related.

But, yeah, I also find it ridiculous that a pint at the shop costs 3$.

I would not be surprised if the in-store magazine was funded entirely by distillers in exchange for being featured.

I always found it a bit puzzling why LCBO markets itself when the government policy is to charge high prices to discourage consumption.

Kind of like casinos and lotteries and sports wagers, no?

The government wants to "discourage" "poor behaviour" whilst doing everything it can to encourage it becaue of the financial benefits to the treasury.

I'm fine with it, personally, as a hedonist and degen....I just wish they'd stop being such hypocrites.

I'm entirely fine with them marketing themselves and their products, but would really like it if they could also openly provide proper information about alcohol, which they don't even bother pretending to do.
