I figure since Vancouver pops up in comparison to the GTA project discussions a lot, why not start a thread just about what's happening on the west coast. The first five-car Mark V's are in testing now

I'm guessing this means that platform work to allow the longer trains is also done or nearly done

As a PTSD side note, Ottawa uses that exact same chime for station disruption announcments in the video, and I feel like I'm programmed now to hear that sound and expect an annoucement about Line 1 experiencing major delays :|

Metrolinx uses the same public announcement chime in stations and terminals.

I had never heard of Solaris before, looks like their first entry into our market
Its the 2nd or 3rd order for NA with a small order in the US. They are very large in Europe and not bus to ride on.

One thing of interest when comparing NA to Europe buses is that the European ones usually have more doors. Often a regular bus has 3 doors and articulates have 4.

You can get 2-3 doors or 3-4 doors depending on your request. Seen 2 and 3 doors on 40's for the same system as well 3-4 on 60's. It boils down to custom requirements.

There will be the standard doors like today as it may require approval from the Federal Government as the ones for the US 40's are 2 door. You loose seats for that extra door.

I expect the buses will be 100% lowfloor that you find in Europe these days.

Note:
Standard-wheelchair ramp at the 2nd entrance, manually operated

Option-Wheelchair ramp at the 2nd entrance, electrically operated

don't visit Manchester lmao, they have have double decker buses with one door

(perhaps other places in UK as well, but I haven't been to anywhere else besides London)

When Orion was still developing the Orion 6, they had some demos with 3 doors. And they were Ontario made.

I wonder which province has the most amount of transit buses? I'm sure Ontario is up there, maybe top 2 at minimum. Considering that, and the fact that Nova as really scaled back on what they offer. And NFI even welcoming another bus manufacturer to enter the market, the Province should reconsider starting up a bus manufacturer. Especially with the tariffs.

I'm pretty sure it's a no-contest with Ontario at the top. Between Toronto, Peel, York, and Ottawa you have four million+ population centers each with their own bus system (or two in Peel's case), Alberta has two, and BC and Quebec have one.

CBMC will be trialing a Letenda Electrip out of Hamilton TC, reportedly to be four weeks non-revenue followed by two weeks revenue service.

The Seattle order for Solaris had a rendering that might hint and what Translink's buses might look like.

They also have a bodykit that can be added to any of their buses for BRT type routes.

Nova Bus also offered three doors on the 1st generation LFS. None were built that way, though. Only one customer, a ski resort in Colorado, ended up ordering the Orion VI with three doors. There were also a handful of three door Neoplan USA low floor buses produced too.

Outside of London, it’s very common to see transit buses with only one door in the UK.
