U of T: Dept. of Economics Max Gluskin House (3s, Hariri Pontarini)

i went inside the the other day. the outside is pretty much finished, except for some minor thing i think they will add come spring. the inside still has work to do such as adding ceilings, flooring etc.

The materials work very well with the rustic laneway in the back. There are a lot of old wooden fences and dilapidated garages.

Aside from the brown brick and corten steel, they've built some wooden fences around the back with irregularly placed horizontal planks. The fences manage to fit into the laneway, while still providing a somewhat interesting design.

A couple of things. First, I went by today and as Alvin confirmed above, it is Corten stell cladding. It is just a thin layer covering the exterior, but it is steel. Second, I had a look inside and they are nowhere near finished. Perhaps I was in a different part of the building than barrytron, but the whole main entrance area is barely roughed in.

I took some pictures and will post them tonight when I get home.

It really is quite a nice building.

Small pieces of metal above the windows block any steel runoff.
