While a lot of it is the usual seasonal decreases (and the odd increase); and some is post-construction reinstatement (511, and 509)

There are a notable number of terrible service decreases. Services that already have bad service like Mortimer 62 will drop in headway down to 30m in mid-day.

That's a sure way to kill ridership . It makes no sense at all.

Gerrard 135 is another to see cuts, with even more bloat added to its 'recovery' time.

TTC restoring service on 509, 510 and 511 streetcars this Sunday

As of Sun., June 22, regular streetcar service on the 509 Harbourfront, 510 Spadina, and 511 Bathurst streetcars resumes, following infrastructure work at the intersection of Bathurst St., Lake Shore Blvd. W., and Fleet St.

In February, the TTC and the City of Toronto began replacing aging watermains and streetcar tracks at the intersection. The work included replacing the curved streetcar tracks at Bathurst St/Eireann Quay and Queens Quay and on Bathurst St. from Front St. to King St. W., along with overhead wiring upgrades. Over the next few weeks, the TTC will continue to finalize work on newly installed switches along the intersection.

The 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst replacement bus service will no longer run.

In addition, service will be increased on the 509 Harbourfront Mon. to Fri. between 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sat. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sun. between 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. to meet additional demand during the summer months.

Seasonal service adjustments

Starting Mon., June 23, seasonal service will begin on several TTC routes.

The 200 Toronto Zoo will operate every 20 minutes between Rouge Hill GO Station and the Toronto Zoo.

The 201 Bluffer’s Park will operate every 23 minutes between Kennedy Station and Bluffer’s Park.

Seasonal service will also resume on the 203 High Park. Buses will operate every 20 minutes between High Park Station and High Park, on weekends and holidays only.

Service on the 92 Woodbine South will be increased in the evenings Mon. - Fri. to accommodate customers heading to Woodbine Beach.

The 508 Lake Shore route will be suspended until Tues., Sept. 2, due to reduced summer demand.

Absolute disaster on Adelaide again today. Streetcar didn't move at all for 10 minutes as delivery vehicles and construction vehicles clogged up everything.

I haven't seen traffic wardens at all at PM rush hour today or yesterday, and with King/Church closed this is when they are most desperately needed.

Service reductions every june is normal because of less demand for students going to school or post secondary institution during summer months.

Hence why I used the phrase 'usual seasonal decreases'.

It was the exceptional decreases to absurdly bad headways that I was separately highlighting.

Councillor Matlow motions to explore the creation of a physical TTC merch store as a potential way to make non-fare revenue and build more appreciation for the TTC. It passes!

It's funny because it never crossed my mind that there might be TTC merch but it turns out they have an online store with things to buy! I think a physical store would generate a lot more buzz than whatever they've done so far. I would happily pick up some TTC stickers and accessories.

Speaking of Union, it bugs me to no end that VIA Stations are also sparse on merch.

Could be at the Queen Station (Lines 1 & 3). Understand they have space available at some sort of building at Yonge & Queen, southwest corner.

I get Davisville as that's at headquarters so space is easier to find, but it feels like they would be leaving money on the table there. Somewhere like Dundas, Queen, or Union may be better candidates due to the higher traffic.

Glad to hear about the physical merch store! I've bought a handful of items from the online store and would probably buy more often if there was a way to avoid shipping costs.

Agreed. Union would be much better. NYC has a transit museum gift shop in Grand Central and another one attached to their museum in Brooklyn, which itself is in a disused subway station.

Yes, having a physical store at Union opens it up to tourists arriving by train or via UP Express. The tourists would otherwise not buy any TTC merchandise as online ordering and shipping is not exactly tourist friendly.

My memory is fuzzy here, but was there not a physical store selling merch on the concourse level of Union subway station for several years, maybe starting in 2008 or so?
Maybe it closed down for the station renovation and they never brought it back? But I definitely remember there used to be something there where you could buy a variety of TTC branded stuff like mugs, or t-shirts with the subway map on them, etc. and maybe some other City of Toronto branded items.

Also I recall it was kind of sad looking and slapped together with cardboard signs, etc.
