TTC: Other Items (catch all)

What I linked in the screenshot is how it displays on my screen. Kipling appears higher up on the map than Union.
How unusual - there must be some kind of rotation that you see on the image on your screen, that I don't see on mine.

This is what I see when I read your post on my screen, with Kipling lower on the map than Union, rather than higher. How does yours differ?

Correct, in which case you’ll find that Kipling is latitudinally further south. Very amateur stuff guys!
In my case, true north is up. So relative direction will work fine visually. As it does in this case.

At least on this scale. Perhaps you are thinking of the effects from the curvature of the earth? Which are not relevant for such small distances.

Admittedly, it depends on exactly where Google has attributed "Kipling" and "Union" to, but if you right click on those labels on google maps, Union is noted at 43.646 degrees north, while Kipling is noted at 43.637 degrees north. Exhibition is at 43.636, at least where Google says the current streetcar loop is.

Each degree is worth about 111 km, so we're talking about a 10 metre difference in distance from the equator, roughly. So it really depends on where you take your measurement from for each place. But basically, they're all the same.

You’re off by one order of magnitude.

The TTC needs to stop "cucking" to other cities by building subways that extend beyond Toronto (eg. the proposed Yonge subway extension)

It's the province (dating back from the days of Greg Sorbara and Jim Flaherty) who's had this consistent fetish of extending the subway system beyond Toronto's borders, not so much Toronto or the TTC.

I wont get into the merits of whether it's right or wrong, but let's just say the reasons are always political.

Just annex the 905 into the City of Toronto, and separate from the Province of Ontario to form the Province of Toronto.

TTC doesn't build subways, Metrolinx does. TTC operates and maintains whatever subways Metrolinx or Toronto council provides funding for them to do so.
That’s precisely the problem. The first four subway lines were build by the TTC in Toronto. Now they are being built by metrolinx

This isn’t necessary a bad thing.

TO politics are too bias for themselves while upholding favours to Torontoians. After they try justify an express subway to STC. They do deserve to get their planning rights revoked. They are also indecisive like planning for a tunnel under the Lawrence/Kingston Rd/Morningside intersection and yanking it out again.

Subway extensions have to be compatible with the current system. So this eliminates all the “unknown” factors. The TTC does have a say on what they could use on the track material. I do question their ability of maintaining the system as they seem to be clueless now with all the slow zones and the SRT track failure incident.
