It's Rosedale. NIMBYism is huge there, not as bad as summerhill, but people there believe there is a sort of character with that neighborhood. I've always wondered if it would be a good idea to build a third track between Eglinton and Bloor Yonge (with a potential third platform at St Clair) for skip-stop service along that section of track. It might encourage some users to avoid the trains that serve those local stations, thereby ensuring they can get on some trains and therefore improve the public transit reputation in the area.

This is an excellent video, and the sad thing it really isnt uncommon to see. We should pin this on the social media pages of some employers who take it out on their employees for being late and fail to realize how screwed up our transit system really is.

I'd say we should do the same for politicians, but they're a lost cause.

28 incidents? Well I hope those politicans read this, Ford, Tory, read the article, Tru-Dough, everyone read the aritcle and you'll see why people, employers, schools, and pretty much everyone is not liking it.

From what I understand, this track project at Kingston Rd and Queen should be going down in the fall. The 501 will be force to short turn at Russell during this, but it's hardly an issue considering how many 501s short turn at Russell now when there's no consturtion.

Phase 1 -
The TTC track allowance work at the intersections of Queen Street East / Kingston Road, Queen Street East / TTC Loop, and the tangent section on Queen Street East, platform construction, roadway narrowing and sidewalk work are to be completed by no later than October 20, 2019.

The Queen Street East shall be closed, with the arrangement to provide local access, during this phase. However it shall be fully opened for vehicular traffic by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

The Kingston Road shall be closed, with the arrangement to provide local access, during this phase. However it shall be fully opened for vehicular traffic by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

The vehicular access to and from the business complex at the north-east corner of Queen Street East and Kingston Road shall be maintained at all times during this phase. A temporary access driveway may have to be constructed, if needed.

The Contractor shall allow 25 days for the TTC staff to complete the rail installation. The Contractor will be able to overlap their work for a minimum of 10 days. The rail tie-in work will be completed while the Contractor perform the concrete work (tie-in work is not included in those 25 days)

The Contractor shall use multiple crews to excavate the track allowance (excavating eastbound and westbound tracks simultaneously).

Phase 2
The TTC track allowance work, including all restoration, at the intersection of Kingston Road / TTC Loop, and the tangent section on Kingston Road are to be completed by no later than October 20, 2019.

The vehicular access to and from the business complex at the north-east corner of Queen Street East and Kingston Road shall be maintained at all times during this phase. A temporary access driveway may have to be constructed, if needed.

The Contractor shall allow 6 days for the TTC staff to complete the rail installation. The rail tie-in work will be completed while the Contractor perform the concrete work (tie-in work is not included in those 6 days)


Phase 3
The entire work in the TTC Loop area shall be completed by no later than October 27, 2019.

The Contractor shall allow 10 days for the TTC staff to complete the rail installation and concrete work. The rail tie-in work will be completed while the Contractor perform other work (tie-in work is not included in those 10 days)


• The Contractor shall work on Phase 1, 2, and 3 concurrently, however, TTC forces will not be able to work concurrently.

Completion Date
• This Contract, including all site restorations, clean up, and rectification of all known deficiencies, must be completed by no later than October 27, 2019. The tentative construction start date is on Saturday, September 7, 2019.
 
Had a look at both intersections for Shaw St and still as it was before for them.

TTC has added new bracing and support cables to support the new overhead some day for King. Holding part of the existing system.
 
Vintage and current TTC streetcars join Beaches Easter parade

April 18, 2019

TTC streetcars, vintage and modern, are ready to roll at the annual Toronto Beaches Easter Parade this Sun., Apr. 21 at 2 p.m.

The parade runs along Queen St. E. from Munro Park Ave. to Woodbine Ave.

One of the TTC's new accessible streetcars will join a CLRV streetcar, along with the historic Peter Witt streetcar, which served Toronto residents from 1921 until 1963, and the classic PCC streetcar that was the backbone of the TTC's streetcar fleet for several decades starting in 1938. The final PCC was retired from service in 1995.

During the parade, the 501 Queen streetcar route will turn back at Kingston Rd. starting at 1 p.m. The 64 Main and 92 Woodbine South buses offer service nearest the parade route, but will also be on diversion for the duration. Visit ttc.ca for more details.

Regular service resumes when the parade ends at approximately 5 p.m.
 
I wonder how well operators will be able to line up the trains to the markings. The article says that they are approximate, but is it approximate as in 1 foot or 1 meter?

"The TTC warned that the decals may not always line up exactly with the doors, as this portion of Line 1 is not on the Automatic Train Control signal system, which would ensure the trains always stop in the exact same position."

There are numbers under the platforms to help operators to line up. Imperfect, but close.
