TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

I doubt any easier than the gates themselves.

Well, the gates aren't sturdy. You might break them or yourself trying to get over. That gap filler looks like a nice structure to side-hop.

Once Presto rollout is complete, you will be tapping on to board those buses anyways. I predict there will be huge problems (compared to today) with people walking into the fare-paid zone, rather than going the long way round to enter the station and pay their fare (as they do today) just to get on the bus.

Does TTC intend to install gates such that people getting off buses into fare-paid zones are required to tap on to enter the subway?

They've been clear that they do have a general intent to do this in the long term. They've been claiming right now that you do, in fact, have to tap on a station's faregates then again when boarding a vehicle in the fare paid zone, but it's actually not a legal requirement per the by-law, and since it's not required in the reverse direction there's no point. However, with the fare integration discussions ongoing all pointing to either fare by mode, distance, or zone, you can rest assured that eventually there won't be any free-body transfers in stations anymore.

Then why are they installing readers at the rear door of all buses since they say there is no plan for rear-door entry (except at fare-paid areas)?

Because they are going to require tapping on the bus when boarding from a fare paid area.

There is no way that they would be able to install fare gates in all the stations for riders exiting buses in fare paid areas,

That's to enter the vehicles. I said there was no indication that people will have to tap when transferring to a subway station, in the current fare paid zone.

Not officially at TTC. Various Metrolinx fare-by-distance proposals certainly consider this type of addition.
Which basically means nothing. TTC isn't going to fare by distance on bus routes. It's beyond absurd, and very difficult to implement.
