People are concerned; and rightly so, about the leg room. Should have had seats be just 1 row along each side like the NYC subway. More room for standing that way.

The roof looks like a car without a hood. Are they really gonna leave it like that?

The A/C will work with both poles & pan regardless what being used.

All Trams in Europe have similar setup over the wheels for seats.

I still prefer the Stadler car, which was the first one I saw and Rode in Croydon [London] Tramlink, as it set the benchmark for me for the rest of my trip in 12. The Tram was 30m and only in service less than a month.

All trams are open top as that is where all the equipment is now and easier to gain access to. You can't see most of it from the street level.

Seating on most low floor trams where very close to TTC.

If you type drum118 stadler Croydon in search, you will find the photos I shot of the car and look at how the seating is setup and then compare it to TTC car. You will see what I mean about seating and layout that TTC could have used. If you look at my Europe Tram album on my Flickr site, you will find all the interior shots of all the trams I rode in 12 except for Budapest, as I could not get shots of it since it was peak load all the time for a 59m car that came every 10 minutes.

Having no seats across gives people with motion sickness some problems, I understand. If Giambrone and whoever was advising him during the acquisition had accepted 70% low floor rather than insisting on 100% then other seating configurations might have been possible.

Having no seats across gives people with motion sickness some problems, I understand. If Giambrone and whoever was advising him during the acquisition had accepted 70% low floor rather than insisting on 100% then other seating configurations might have been possible.

I don't think it matters which direction you face when it comes to motion sickness.

Lateral Seating will result in less seats on the streetcar. .

The Croydon Tramline Variobahn trams have no lateral seating and have 72 seats.

The Trams for Potsdam are 3 metres shorters, has lateral seating, and 13 seats fewer.

Family and friends I know who suffer from motion sickness tell me otherwise. They tell me the eyes are crucial to them in mitigating their sickness. So, for example, can't sit on GO trains facing in the opposite direction of movement....can't read in moving vehicles at all ......some have difficulty in back seats of cars....etc........need to keep their eyes forward in the same direction of movement.

Yes, that sounds right.

Still, shouldn't be an issue. The majority of the seats on the new car face forwards. Most seats are not in clusters of 4. There's some groups of 4, and some side-facing seats ... so it sounds like there is something for everyone!

If most of the seats were in pods of 4 (like the GO Train), or all side-facing (like the SRT), I can see why some might have issues. But that isn't the case.

I finally saw one in person on College St yesterday! It really is quite impressive and futuristic looking.

But not so Torontoesque in appearance. More like LRT cars that you could see anywhere.
