TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Here is the 25th Flexity tram TTC 4426, in Thunder Bay on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016. It was loaded last night and picked up by the 630am CP roust this morning and brought to "E" yard, for furtherance to Toronto on CP train 420. Many thanks to my Thunder Bay CRO contact for the update. Bryan Martyniuk photo with permission.

^ so two new car deliveries in October (ie. not the rebuilt 02)....if that repeats in November and December and 4402 appears sometime during that time then there's your 30. Still slow but, perhaps, maybe they've turned a corner and are going to fulfill, at least, this heavily revised commitment....small steps?

Lets see how close they come to these shipping date from TB
Nov 4 4402
Nov 18 4427
Dec 2 4428
Dec 16 4429
Dec 23 4430
Jan 13 4431

Just a thought...it's a wild one...but since Bombardier appear to be in dire straights financially and still throwing anything they can to fund the CSeries, perhaps their North Am (if not their European ones too) LRV operations, at least streetcar/tram operations, will be put up for sale along with the outstanding contracts?

Yes, the new leadership at Bombardier seems to be turning things around. Clearly there were some issues with management during the past 5 to 8 years in North America which has allowed there to be a total disconnect between what timelines were promised and the ability for the supply chain and production line to deliver. While BT had been able to deliver in the past without issues on schedule, all of a sudden there was a period of complete incompetence in delivery of new product during the past decade, mainly in North America. The executive has been completely changed out in the past year and all of a sudden there were reasonable delivery timelines announced, and product is finally showing up in Toronto, New York, and San Francisco (although I don't think SFO was impacted as much).

Then when is the last CLRV ALRV to retire like mid 2020's

Probably 2020.

End of 2016 - 30 cars in service (2wk / car)
End of 2017 - 70 cars in service (1.3wk / car, second line expected to open by end of first quarter of 2017)
End of 2018 - 146 cars in service (0.7wk / car)
End of 2019 - 204 cars in service (0.9wk / car)

If they reach 1 car every 2 weeks on a single line by the end of 2016 then they will be in decent shape for 2017 if they open the 2nd line on schedule. The tough year will be 2018 with them needing to get to 1 cars every 1.4 weeks per line by the end of 2017 but maybe the La Pocatière plant and fixes at the Mexican plant will make that possible.

How can 2016 be 2wk per car since they stated to arrive in 2014?? 4400 & 4403 went into service Aug 31 with 4403 arriving May 31/14 and have no day for 4400 returning. 4404 arrived Nov 11/14 and 4405 Feb 9/15. 4416 arrived Dec 31/15. 4417 to 4425 is more than 2wk for 2016.

The last number I saw this week, TTC getting only 35 cars in 2017. If we get more, great.

Meanwhile...

TTC to phase out horse-drawn streetcars

From link. (But, we saved money on electricity? Maybe we'll save on waste disposal.)
The newspaper box lettering, the lettering on the shelter, the TTC logo on the streetcar, the ad on the streetcar, and the number on the top are reversed. Oh, and the streetcar is travelling the wrong way.

it's 70 cras total for 2017 so what we have from this year plus whatever gets delivered next year, not an additional 70 cras, poel are getting confused about that. I know when I watched the first part of the TTC board meeting Andy Byford had to clarify that a few times to various people in the room.

British Columbia was driving on the left until 1922. See link. Newfoundland changed in 1947. See link.
