TTC celebrates Donlands Station becoming accessible
October 15, 2024
On Wed., Oct. 16, Toronto-Danforth MP Julie Dabrusin, TTC Chair Jamaal Myers, Toronto-Danforth Councillor Paula Fletcher, and ACAT Co-Vice Chair Betty Rivington-Law, will join TTC Interim CEO Greg Percy to celebrate Donlands Station becoming accessible.
This is the TTC's 55th accessible station.
Details are as follows:

Location: Donlands Station on Line 2, 30 Donlands Avenue
The Easier Access Phase III (EAIII) program is an important part of the 2019-2023 TTC Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. A cornerstone of the TTC’s current Corporate Plan is accessibility, and as a proud leader in providing accessible public transit to the residents in the City of Toronto and surrounding municipalities, the TTC is committed to ensuring reliable, safe, accessible, and inclusive transit services for all its customers.
The program provides upgrades to all TTC subway stations with accessible features, such as elevators, automatic sliding doors, updated signage and wayfinding.

Hope King moves along soon. Construction blockages are leading to crowding in PM peak.

King will be a mess for awhile. Once the elevators project wraps, the project to expand the concourse level begins.

It's great that the elevator works, and the second entrance is open. I'd really love for this to be done! The roof in the mezzanine is partially unfinished, there's fencing around, and there unfinished bits on the ground and subway levels, too. It's like a house reno where the trim and outlet covers are never installed!

First a wrap-up on this year's elevator openings.........
Donlands, Glencairn and Castlefrank elevators are all open/working. Castle Frank Station still has further work to do, including opening the replacement escalator to the surface and adding accessible doors to the main entrance. Project should wrap by Dec '24.

Second, the tender for the Easier Access (Elevators) For Old Mill station is back in the market and will close Nov 7th / 24
With any luck work will begin by Q1 2025, completion TBD.

Warden is moving glacially slow and is very behind schedule.
I am there every day and to put this into perspective, the PPUDO was supposed to reopen in the spring. Now, it remains closed with no signs of reopening any time soon.
I would be very surprised if the EA work was done there prior to 2027.

Portions of Warden may be moving slow, but the phase 1 elevators are set to open in Q3, 3 months ahead of schedule.

I did, I am just speaking to what I see every day. Having seen the pace things were moving up until now, it is not impressive.
It said the revised elevator date is Q3 in 2025 which is still a long way away. That said, the station construction is picking up steam.

I wonder if they will keep the 52G in place to connect Sunnybrook to the Spadina Line while Lawrence is not accessible. Or revert it to force everyone to either make a transfer at Avenue Rd with the 124+52 or 11+14 at Davisville Station.

I just walked through the soon to be demolished bus concourse at Warden - is that station losing its washrooms permanently with the EA project works, or have TTC committed to retaining washroom access within the remodelled structure?
