trying to help a friend get money for school

D

desperate

Guest
she needs to make a grand by friday to pay for ryerson.

idk what she was saying about "no deferrals and osap something something" but she was crying and I felt really bad for her

so her other friend suggested she do a car wash/bake sale fund raiser thing and I thought that was brilliant. $5 each = 200 cars. that's plausible. so.. my first step in setting this in motion is asking on the internet: does anyone know anywhere that would host a carwash and would maybe give us free water? hopefully somewhere downtown so we can charge more :)

Credit card/loan?

She will then have all month to pay it off before interest kicks in.

Most people I went to school with that were unable to qualify for OSAP would get a TD line of credit. Students can get 8,000/year or somewhere in that number. I'd suggest she look into that.

Is she attractive? I might have an offer for her :p

All kidding aside....

Seems a carwash would be difficult. I mean, it's possible, but with the unpredictable weather, it might be a tough sell. I heard more storms are coming for Thur/Fri.

As was suggested, a loan seems like the most viable option.

Look into loans, its the only way you can get cash that quick. Student loans are easy to get and you can always apply for private student loans if public loans aren't enough.

Try some of these links.

You can get independent lines of credit or traditional student loans, and as long as you're a student they basically approve you.

Student loans are a good option - although when you are younger sometimes they see it as free money - which causes a lot of headaches after graduation (for the first 10 years or so). Basically, borrow what you need, try to be frugal - so you won't have a large headache at the end.

Sounds like she'll be kicked out of her courses unless she pays and registers by Friday...bank loans may not be fast enough.

Credit cards or prostitution are her only options.

This is only true for purchases. Cash advances see interest charges from the day of the transaction.

wow thank you everyone for your advice. I think we were actually leaning towards prostitution as it got closer to the date, planning on wearing white shirts for extra tips

good news is that her boyfriend's sister somehow overheard her talking about it on the phone and lent her the money until osap comes.

thank you so much for those links brandon, they'll be helping not only her in the future but myself as well :p

I want to do a carwash to make money for myself now LOL so again, if anyone knows somewhere that would host one (maybe a little independant coffee shop would be interested) let me know, thanks :)

Has she paid the minimum amount? From what I remember, you don't need to pay the entire thing to register. Of course, you'll pay interest on the outstanding amount, but you'll have a lot of time to pay it off.

I can think of a lot worse things to do with a grand than help a friend in need!

thank you.. I offered but she's like "NO. NO WAY" - I didn't really see the big deal, obviously I would have gotten it back.

lol oh yea I made sure of the minimum I wasn't washing anymore cars than I had to
