Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green future?

Toronto needs help, the city is sick and needs some good old fashion care to restore itself. In order for Toronto to become a world leader it needs the diversity of nature, the tree kingdom must expand and help the city breath, provide shade, make the urban enviroment beautiful, attract good people, create a deeper connection with the land, reduce pollution, protect us from floods and storms, to just name a few of the benifits. Anyone interested?

Green roof tops , trees everywhere, greenery covering the side of bland grey buildings covering the city to evolve into an organic breathing creative machine, Gurrilla gardening going out and planting native born toronto seeds without permission in places that are neglected, paint forest murals on grey walls ! i wanna see biodiversity animated , vibrant, people all over will love toronto, transformation earth, adapt new paradigm, became self suffient, urban farming, grow our own food in empty lots, collect rain water, solar pannel, wind energy, advance and evolve as a city or destruction is our option for the next century. I tend to be optimistic that us humans will come together and be creative
Peace

I have a cactus.

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

lol

That's better than I can say, but then I can cry university student. I'm too busy to keep even a succulent alive. Right...

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

The benefit is that it is difficult to kill a cactus through neglect.

Hmm, ten after four in the morning. Mill Street Coffee Porter seems to actually have coffee in it...

Yeah, but it's really easy to kill a cactus with care - overwatering done mine in...

Alvin:

My cactus and I were made for each other. It is a relationship built upon benign neglect.

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

I have the same relationship with the ficus I bought 13 years ago at Dominion for $10.

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

The only plant I have is a coffee plant that's not growing any beans and hasn't grown a new leaf in two years...I agree to water it once a month and in exchange it agrees to not attract bugs or the cat.

I want an aspidistra.

Ah, the most bourgeois of houseplants.

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

Dr. Zulu... are you aware of the Guerilla Gardeners of Toronto?

I like your ideas... especially some plant life on the big hulking concrete structures on the city (ie. ivy all over the underside of the Gardner).

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

Ivy expedites the decay of masonry....

Re: Trees Plants flowers and shrubs in Toronto, a green futu

All the more reason to plant it there..quickly!

Head down to Point Pelee to see cactus in their natural habitat.
