A westward stroll down Bloor (et ses environs). Starting at Yonge, where there's a newish... thing which might be a clock.

A good fence might be required to make good neighbours here.

Part 2 coming...

Great tour! Mind if I save a few for daily banner images?

There's something very "one of a kind" about this shot. Well done on the entire thread. Terrific content.

Wonderful shots! Thanks.

Though I'll be sorry to see the crepe place go, I am really looking forward to that KPMB condo. One need only check out the Peter Clewes building at St George to see what a medium-height tower with really strong streetwall can do for this stretch of Bloor.

This is such a great part of Toronto, and a real example of the jumbled-up built form that makes it so unique...gotta love the houses with driveways just a stone's throw from Bloor.

I've noticed that quite a few of the hideous, hulking Queen Anne style Victorian monster homes ( or, as the Annex Residents Association puts it, "architecturally distinctive and historically significant homes" ) in that part of town have little metal plaques affixed out front. I understand that these badges of honour are in some mysterious way a part of the campaign to ensure that the neighbourhood will never, never, ever, change.

Great pics of a great area! Some real gems in there....can't wait for part 2!

Cool, I pass by here a few times a week on my way to the gf's. Great set, I too am looking forward to part two.

Wonderful tour, and I also look forward to part two.

So, will Toronto be having some winter this winter?

Wonderful tour Brian. Where is that Ferrari Dealership located? Somewhere around yorkville?

billy:

Please do.

Moi aussi. Happily, the woman who runs the crepe joint told me that they'll be relocating to 18 Yorkville(!) later this year. Though she says she doesn't want to move, I suspect this may be good for her particular business.

"a real example of the jumbled-up built form that makes it so unique"

Yep. I like it.

Would you prefer that it's built form change? I don't think I would (not talking about major arteries like Bloor). Hulking monsters or not, hands off, I say! Though I am admittedly glad that St.George, Walmer and whatnot were redeveloped.

TO Tower Fan:

The Ferrari boutique is on the east side of Avenue around Elgin or Boswell. There are other swankaroo cars available along there too, I believe.

Glad you all enjoyed the pics!

New Yorkville Park

That new "city park" is completely useless!

It's nice to look at, but there isn't anything to do there!

You can't even sit comfortably and talk to your friend because of the design of the benches, which are severly lacking from what I recall in the first place.

The park is nice to look at, and must cost thousands annually to maintain with the fancy plantings, however I bet barely nobody uses it!
