As much as I hate those 6 floor residential on the south side of the esplanade they add warmth and colour. And just in case someone assumes I dislike the esplanade I'll clarify. I like the esplanade but not the buildings on it. They were never all that attractive.

I believe they will have dropped soffits on those podium levels , possibly to conceal terrace drains
