I walked by the park last night. I was very disappointed to see that the sidewalk on Adelaide hasn't been widened at all. It's still incredibly narrow in a part of the city where foot traffic is increasing rapidly. Based on the park's design, it seems like this could've been fixed easily.

Also, the permanent fencing on the park edge on Adelaide is cheap-crap aluminum, the kind I'm sure you can get off the shelf at The Home Depot, not wrought-iron by any stretch.

Finally, I didn't see a single slab of stone anywhere, just large expanses of concrete.

I'll review the park properly in due course, might wait for spring to assess the vegetation....

But just looking at Red Mars excellent pics.............the things that pop out at me and not in a great way are the light fixtures which don't look at all historical, or of the period of the Waterworks building; additionally they appear novel, which is to say I don't recall the City using a fixture like that before.............one more custom thing for which there will be no replacements when something breaks.............

Also, the DOLA has a perimeter that looks like 'fast fence'. Likewise, to me, doesn't fit with the park from a heritage perspective; and just doesn't look likes it's meant to be permanent.

Not an auspicious start.

This is the same type of fence they put in for the dog park at Huron & Lowther. Looked slightly higher quality than off the shelf to me, but I guess I don’t know much about fences haha.

EDIT next day: cheap and crappy fencing at Huron and Lowther upon closer inspection ! Yuck.

Another dog's breakfast of a park. WAY too much going on. Edit out half of the features and it might still be too busy.

I think the park is quite nice and is ultimately going to be a beloved and well used neighbourhood amenity. Kind of unsure why they'd need period inspired fixtures - doesn't seem like something that will impact the usability or enjoyment of the park in any way. Regardless - excited to see what it looks like come spring time when the plants have had some time to grow and people begin to use the space.
